Fertility Foods and The Fertility Diet
83
You can eat a fertility diet that will boost your fertility and increase your egg health.
When you eat a diet to prepare for pregnancy and to boost fertility, this can be one of the most important things you do. Several studies have shown that dietary changes can specifically increase your chances of healthy ovulation and can prevent recurrent miscarriage. In addition, a healthy diet can help you have a healthy pregnancy.
The Nutrient Dense Fertility Diet explained
If you want to increase your fertility and improve your egg health, it's best for you to eat a whole foods organic diet.
This diet is called the "Nutrient Dense Fertility Diet" because everything consumed in the diet is the best you can eat for optimal health. It is abundant in nutrients, minerals and vitamins, and it tastes good, too. It's not a diet to lose weight on per se, but instead to gain fertility and health.
This way of eating supports fertility and makes you more fertile than you could be with a traditional diet. Because we "are what we eat," when we want to become pregnant, we need to eat foods that balance hormones, support ovulation, and increase egg health. These are just a few benefits, but overall, it's going to increase our fertility.
When women followed a fertility diet, Harvard found that it caused an 80% decrease in infertility.
The new study recently published by Harvard also discusses the effects of lifestyle changes and the resulting reduced infertility caused by failure to ovulate.
These findings are major and are teachings that have been shared with great success. The Harvard study results showed an 80% decrease in infertility because of the changes made with this diet. This does not include the other natural therapies discussed herein. These are very exciting developments.
Dr. Brewer, Dr. Weston Price, and my own extensive nutritional education have contributed to the research for the fertility diet.
Dr. Price's recommendations are based upon diets that were followed during times in history when humans were most fertile. This was before foods became "industrialized." In addition, Dr. Brewer's diet has been shown to reduce pregnancy complication risks. In addition, there are of course Harvard's fertility diet factors.
What Are the Benefits of a Fertility Diet?
You don't need to change your dietary regulations once pregnant; you stay on the plan throughout your pregnancy.
You'll have increased energy.
Your reproductive system will be healthier.
It also:
-Stores nutrients up for the baby.
-Decreases your chances of having a miscarriage.
-Helps create a healthy placenta.
-Helps balance your hormones.
-Optimizes egg health.
-Helps your body to function at its best during your pregnancy.
What Does "Diet" Mean, Really?
When I say "diet," I'm not talking about calorie restriction or otherwise currently held definitions of the word "diet." Instead, I'm using the Greek origins of the word, meaning "manner of living," or "food and drink regularly consumed." This diet is not meant to make you lose or gain weight unless your body needs to do that to be healthy. Rather, what you're going to be doing is to balance out your system and normalize your weight so that it's your healthiest. If you do need to lose some weight, you will do so naturally. If you need to gain weight, similarly, you'll do so naturally.
Fertility Cycle Nutrition Diet guidelines
Drink clean water.
Don't ingest refined sugars or processed fruit juices; you can consume freshly squeezed juices.
Don't consume soy unless it's fermented, such as tempeh or miso.
Only eat whole, natural grains.
Eat protein and carbohydrates in balance with each other, in a ratio of 1:1.
Eat enzyme rich foods at every meal.
Eat free-range organic chicken.
Eat organic, grass fed red meats.
Eat fish at least three times per week.
Eat small amounts of organic dairy products only.
Eat organic vegetables and fruits.
Fertility Food Guide Pyramid
The "Fertility Food Guide Pyramid" consists of many fruits and vegetables in great supply. These foods supply your body with water, antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins and minerals. Eat all "colors of the rainbow" when it comes to fruits and vegetables so that you get all the nutrients you need. One easy way to get this is to consume a smoothie a day. This will provide the fruit you need in one serving. In addition, eating a salad a day and having dark green vegetables served with dinner will also provide your nutrient needs. Try broccoli or Swiss chard as two choices.
For your protein needs, you can eat beans, meats, poultry, or fish. Every source should be organic. Eat between 70 and 100 g of protein every day.
Carbohydrates, too, are necessary, contrary to current popular beliefs. However, you don't want refined carbohydrates. Rather, you want whole, unrefined carbohydrates in their natural state. These are full of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Fiber helps you metabolize excess estrogen and excrete it from your body. You should eat carbohydrates with a protein and not alone. Eat proteins in a ratio of 1:1 with carbohydrates. For example, if you eat 4 ounces of cooked rice, you should also eat 4 ounces of chicken or tempeh at the same time. This will help forestall blood sugar spikes that can affect your fertility and fertilized egg attachment. You can consume protein powders (an occasional choice), eggs (the best choice for fertility), raw dairy, fish, or meats. Once you get used to it eating a nutrient dense diet, your daily protein requirements will be easy to get.
For calcium requirements, you can consume organic dairy or other calcium rich foods. Getting enough calcium is important to keep your body in an alkaline state, which is important for fertility. You can get calcium from dark leafy green vegetables, organic cottage cheese or yogurt, other organic dairy products, quinoa, almonds, seaweed, sesame seeds, and other calcium rich foods.
You also need to get a certain amount of fat in your diet to produce the proper hormones. Remember that fat is not the enemy. It provides essential vitamins such as vitamin A that you need for good health. In addition, if you're trying to get pregnant, you need to avoid very low-fat diets. Instead, focus on getting a moderate amount of fat from healthy sources such as organic meats and dairy, flax seed, olive, and fish oils.
In addition, you can utilize certain natural healthy sweeteners such as agave nectar or maple syrup. Don't use highly processed or chemically treated sugars like white sugar or artificial sweeteners like NutraSweet (or other aspartame-containing sweeteners).

Loved your smoothie video! Do you add ice to it as well or just the ingredients you talked about?
I personally don't add ice, as I like my smoothies not so cold. But you could add ice, it would not hurt anything. I am glad you enjoyed the video!

The Fertility Diet from the book the Organic Fertility Bible helped me to get pregnant. I absolutely swear by it. I know it helped me get pregnant with my first 2 kids and it will help again for my third.
Great article! I have actually sent some of my readers to this article to teach them how to eat for fertility. I also really enjoyed the video! I tried the Fertility Smoothie. I have never been much of a "smoothie" person, but this wasn't too bad! I actually enjoyed it! Thank you for this awesome information!! :)
