Four Tools for Tracking Ovulation
74
For some women, ovulation is the key to solving their fertility problems. If by chance you ovulate too early (or too late) in your cycle, you could be missing out on your only opportunity to get pregnant each month by concentrating your lovemaking sessions during the wrong time. Figuring out exactly when you ovulate can help you better time when you try to conceive, increasing your chances for success.
Of course, figuring out this delicate timing can be difficult, especially if your cycle is erratic or unusual. Thankfully, there are plenty of tools available on the market today to help you predict ovulation. Simple and easy to use, these ovulation predictors can be both very basic and very technological. To make things easier on you, here are 4 all-natural (and easy to-use) ovulation tracking devices that can help make your journey to parenthood even easier.
Cycle Beads
Made for women who don’t want to do much to figure out when she ovulates. If your cycle generally runs between 26 and 32 days, you can easily use these beads to determine your best fertile days. Note: women with shorter or longer menstrual cycles should not use this system to prevent pregnancy.
Here is how Cycle Beads work: there is one colored bead to represent each day of a woman’s menstrual cycle. On the first day of her period, the user put the rubber ring on the red bead. Every morning she moves the ring to the next bead. When the ring is on a red or dark-colored bead, the odds of pregnancy is NOT good. But, when the ring is on a white bead (usually between days 9-18), then she is in her most fertile time of the month and can more easily get pregnant. Of course, this method works best for women with regular menstrual cycles.

Fertile Focus
One of the best ways to detect ovulation is by taking a saliva test. This allows you to physically see the changes in your saliva that are caused by the estrogen surge of ovulation. As ovulation nears, this estrogen surge gives your saliva a very distinct look; bets described as a fern-like pattern. Convenient and easy-to-use, Fertile Focus, a 50x magnifier helps to show these changes in the saliva. To use simply place a bit of saliva on the slide; let dry for 5 minutes and place under the fertile Focus microscope. When the fern-like pattern appears in the viewfinder, then you know that you are in your most fertile time and can try and make a baby.
Digital Basal Thermometer
When it comes to tracking your basal body temperature (BBT), it is very important to use a digital basal thermometer. Specially designed to show even the smallest increment of BBT temperature changes, a digital basal thermometer provides pinpoint accuracy (within 1 /100th of a degree), to help a couple better predict ovulation to increase their chances of conceiving a baby in a given month.
While certainly not the only ovulation predictors available on the market, these basic tools can help any couple trying to conceive the basic knowledge they need to track their body’s cycle changes to help them figure out their most fertile time in the month so they can better plan when to try and conceive a baby.
